Questions

Products Questions:

Posted by Miss Katy Winter on Friday, 2 June 2017

Question:

Does this stove have an over night function and are there ceramic or steel plates inside?

Answers:

  • Posted by Robin Harris on Friday, 2 June 2017
I can confirm the internal liners on the Mazona Signet are cast iron plates. With regards to overnight burn, this is not something the manufacturer will recommend due to obvious health & safety considerations (i.e. an unattended fire), however it is something that can be achieved with some practice and mastery of the stove.
Posted by Mr Paul Nell on Thursday, 4 May 2017

Question:

Hi, I am after a stove that does not need 4.5m chimney, is this stove suitable if not can you direct me to a model that is, ideally as cheap as possible as it is to go in a garage.

Answers:

  • Posted by Robin Harris on Thursday, 4 May 2017
4.5m of flue is the general recommendation for flue height on a domestic installation, however you can certainly get away with less than this if necessary (min of 2 - 2.5m of flue, any less and you may find the draw on the stove is effected).

Question:

Does this stove need a constructional hearth or is tested <100 degrees underneath and can use a 12mm hearth?

Answers:

Minimum of a 12mm hearth required for the Mazona Signet 4 kW.

We are thinking of purchasing the Mazona Signet 4kw. What connection or flue package would we require for a rear connection to the stove?

For use with the rear outlet on the Mazona Signet stove, you will require the following item: www.gr8fires.co.uk/5-inch-90-degree-tee-black-flue-section-with-door

Question:

What is the minimum size harth and the minimum in front of the harth as we only have a 330mm harth and it is marble and so is the back marble to.

Answers:

  • Posted by Adam Fowler on Monday, 29 September 2014
Hi, Minimum distance infront of the stove should be 300mm so you will need to nestle it well into the fireplace opening. To get the best from your stove you should give a bit of an airgap round the sides back and top so depending on what you have you may find the signet a bit tight. In this case I would recommend a GBS mariner 4 or an Aarrow Acorn 4 view as these are about 330mm in width and our narrowest stoves.

Question:

Are your multi fuel fires heats approved.

Answers:

  • Posted by Adam Fowler on Monday, 29 September 2014
Hi, Some but not all our stoves are endorced by HETAS. The Signet is not one of those but you can see them here www.gr8fires.co.uk/stoves/hetas-recommended HETAS endorsement isn't essential but makes comparing products easier asthey are all presented in the HETAS guide with all the test data neatly dispayed in a table.

Question:

What is the minimum clearance required H - W - D for a MAZONA SIGNET please Regards JOHN

Answers:

  • Posted by Robin Harris on Monday, 15 September 2014
Minimium recommended clearances from non-combustibles, as per HETAS, are: 200mm above the stove 150mm either side of the stove 50mm - 100mm at the rear of the stove

Hi,
The fire looks very nice, not been fitted yet but I have absolutely no idea how to fit the legs as the instructions do not go into any detail, nor are there any illustrations.

Thanks

Looked so small when unpacked and was sure I should have got a bigger stove but I was so wrong---this fire is ideal for our room really does throw out enough heat. I have to sit the other end of room sometimes. It has made a dark ,damp gloomy room warm snug and cosy

Just installed Mazona Signet into my log cabin
Bought on price, it was local and cheap. Surprised when the simple flue came to double the price of the stove, but I needed a well insulated flue to go straight up through my wooden roof.
Delivery was excellent, all came on one pallet which was placed inside my garage. Pallet was then made into firewood!
Did not use a specialist to fit, it was only 4kW and was going into a log cabin at the far end of the garden, if it all burned down, my own stupid fault.
I did have to buy fire cement for connecting the stove adaptor to the insulated flue, and a stainless steel plate for behind the stove. I used a kitchen splash-back and suspended it 10mm from the wall.
Looked on google for fitting instructions, the design for a boat was really useful.
The four legs were not even, so the hearth slab had to be ground down for the longer legs so that everything was level, I did not want to grind down the legs, but this would probably have been easier.
Started with small fire, for the first 2 or 3 fires there was a smell of the paint burning, but now a week later, that smell has gone. Being a small stove, you can only insert small logs so even when burning well and the front air supply is completely shut down, you do need to keep feeding it frequently. But a great bed of embers, so easy to keep alight.
It is obviously a cheap Chinese style burner, even so I've been very impressed and for the price this is unbeatable.
My temp. gauge goes up to 200 degrees C (400 degrees F) when it has been burning well. I must admit to using unseasoned logs, so the front glass has been obscured, but this is easily cleaned off with sponge and water before relighting each day.
Not tried coal yet, good supply of smaller logs which I collect from the woods whilst walking my dogs. The log cabin size worked out a 2.5kW stove would be sufficient, but I bought this 4kW stove as it looked traditional and as you expect a log burner, it has not got too hot in there yet, but usually only had the fire running for a maximum of 2 hours so far.
I have a stove fan on the top, this distributes the hot air inside the cabin better.
Really pleased with the result, great little log burner, a real talking point when friends see my man-cave (wife calls it the relaxation hub, what does she know!).
Highly recommend Gr8 Fires and this log burner.

Excellent!!
I bought this stove to replace an existing wood burner that was too large for our lounge (too hot) and at the price I paid I didn't expect to much but was I wrong, this small stove is truly excellent, looks gr8 and is really well made.
Delivery was quick and hassle free, got it inside and It all went together really easily. Burns really nicely without cooking the dogs or me and with the brass accents on the handles and hinge pins it looks the dogs, I'd give it 6 stars if I could.

Brilliant. Still love it after a year!!
It's been over a year since we bought this fire for our cottage which comprises of a large lounge and ground floor area and the heat output is simply amazing!! Even with the internal doors open this fire outputs enough heat to make you feel very comfortable. We have found the coal and wood brickets in home bargains to be a good source of valuable fuel which outputs a tremendous amount of heat (24'C 4 feet away) to the point where on some winter evenings we had to open a window to let some cool air in!! The stove is easy to clean and to maintain even when it comes to getting your chimney swept. Still loving this fire after over a year of usage. Big thumbs up!!

Mazona Signet 4kw
Excellent output for size and nice looking, however, please can you advise on the base plate that is fitted with this model.
Is there an alternative base plate for this model as we find that the design does not allow you to build up an ash base, even after hours of running. The grill on the base appears to be larger than necessary. Please advise.
Thanks

Gr8fires reply: It is a multifuel and so has a grate which allows more sir through it for mineral fuels. When burning wood, use the top air control as the primary air control. Do not rake the grate using the riddle bar. Do not remove the grate and burn fuel in the stove without the grate fitted this will void the warranty on the stove.

Good value (I think)
I've only had the stove for a couple of weeks so it is too soon to tell how it wears, but for the money it was good value. The side brick section is a bit wobbly and I have to be careful about getting small logs but compared with the cost of many multi-fuel burners it is fine.
The delivery man was as helpful as he could be but I still had to help him lift it into the house and I've put my back out. It would greatly add a positive note to the whole experience if there could be two men to carry the stove. Single ladies be warned!!

fantastic
Extremely pleased! Fantastic heat output for such a small fire. Easily warms up a very large lounge. Great price and a very sturdy build. Highly recommended.
