This material also enables the stove to contain the intricate patterning"
The Intrepid II is a wood burning stove and was developed to cope with the intense cold of the North American winters, Vermont wood burning stoves are amongst the cleanest burning and most efficient stoves in the world. The Intrepid II uses Vermont Castings catalytic combustion system. Primary air enters the stove through an access hole in the back of the stove and is preheated as its drawn through the interior walls of stove. To achieve greater efficiency, thermostatically controlled secondary air mixes with the smoke (which is unburnt wood gases). This begins a secondary combustion process. Smoke passes through a catalytic combustor, which lowers the smokes burning temperature by 50%, causing the cooling exhaust gases to re-ignite. This secondary combustion system turns the smoke into usable heat. The Intrepid has been tested for exemption from the clean air act and can therefore be used in smoke control areas here in the UK.
All the stoves in Vermont Castings range feature thermostatic control. The thermostat automatically adjusts primary combustion air, so that the stove delivers a more consistent and comfortable level of heat.
