The triple sliding catch on the curved glass door. This ensures an air tight seal and gives more control over the stove.
The second photo shows the airwash vents at the top of the door and the curved lip which creates a curtain of air cascading over the long curved glass door, this helps keep the glass clear providing you with a great view of the fire and allows more heat to be radiated out from the tapered brick lined fire chamber.
In the last photo the tall sides of the fire chamber are shown and as the flames rise and dance in the chamber they get a second wind provided by the secondary air vents. This pre heated extra air helps give an added boost to the fire and burns up the last of the combustion gases reducing soot residues and flue particulates.
The combination of these features make this a remarkably efficient and delightfully simple stove to live with.
Although shown here with a top exit flue, the Dakota can be flued to the rear also.
